To work in partnership with Individuals, Families, Groups and Communities to improve their Social Wellbeing through their active participation in promoting development with equity.


Facilitate the mobilization and use of available human and material resources to improve the living standards of Individuals, Groups, Families and Communities within an effectively decentralized system of administration.

Prevent and respond to social exclusion and mal adjustment within the context of National and Sub- National Development efforts.

Client Service Delivery:

Report cases to the Social Welafare Department related to:

  • Child Trafficking
  • Child Maintenance
  • Child Abuse etc
  • Child Rights, Protection and Promotion

  • Child and family welfare
  • Child protection case management (maintenance, custody, paternity, child abuse, etc.)
  • Supervision of daycare centers
  • Gender based violence
  • Child marriage
  • Child labor
  • Formation of child protection committees
  • Supervision of residential homes
  • Child trafficking
  • Missing children
  • Extension Services:

    Collaborate with other Departments, Ministries, Corporations as well as Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) :

  • Community Water and Sanitation
  • Get Fund
  • Ghana Health Service
  • National Commission on Civic Education
  • Social Protection Programme:

  • Livelihood empowerment against poverty (LEAP)
  • Adult Education Programme:

  • Vocational and skills training (leather works, carpentry, catering, fashion and designing, hairdressing, entrepreneurial skills etc.)
  • Mass Education:

    Sensitization, awareness creation and education on topical / developmental issues:

  • Child and family welfare issues
  • Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
  • Child protection
  • Justice Administration

  • Reunification of juvenile to their families after remand or correctional facility
  • Supervise juvenile placed on probation
  • Preparation of social enquiry reports for court proceedings
  • Sitting at family tribunals
  • Assist in acquiring care orders for residential homes / foster parents
